On May 10th, 421 competitors completed the 2009 Hatch End-Harrow Triathlon, which was once again run under clear blue skies and sunny weather. Over half the race applications came from the local area. The races featured chip timing for the first time and an improved course layout for the run and the youngsters’ cycle. Once again, a group of French triathletes travelled from Douai, the twin town of Harrow, to compete in the race. This has become a tradition, since the first Hatch End – Harrow Triathlon was run in 2000.
The adults’ race was successfully completed by 213 competitors, with an increased number of female competitors applying this year. The top places were taken by Clark Schofield of Hillingdon Triathletes for the fastest overall |

| The Tristar and Youth races, for youngsters aged 9 to 16 years, had a record number of applications this year, with many of them competing in triathlon for the very first time. For young club triathletes, the top places were |
 |
strongly fought over, as the races form part of the British Triathlon Federation London Series, which is the qualification process for the Inter Regional Competition to be held in Wales in August. For others, completing the race was the challenge and 208 managed to achieve this feat. There were a number of local schools strongly supporting the event with a number of entries; large teams were entered from Holy Trinity, Grimsdyke and Orley Farm |
Prizes for the youngsters and also the team awards were presented by Jean Lammiman, local councillor for Hatch End – details of all the winners are shown below. Of particular mention is the Hall family of Amersham who won the family award and also three medals in the youngsters races –well done to Robert (10), Alice (12) and Ben (15)! |
