100 Meter Swims For Good Pacing & Endurance

Swimming at a steady pace is important to the triathlete and the best way to remember pacing is to actually practice the speed you need in a race. That way you will know the approximate speed you're swimming by feel and the pace you travel through the water. 

In these sets the warm up and warm down are built into the swim and each session lasts for around 2 hours.

The suggested target times are important, firstly to ensure that you don't go off too fast at an unsustainable pace and secondly to ensure you can complete each set with the correct amount of rest. The fastest segments are meant to test your race pace swimming - in the fastest group a 1500 swim would be done in 20 mins. To get to a time below 19 mins simply do the set but take 5 seconds off each target time and each repeat time.

All  of these are tough sets, even for experienced swimmers, and we do not suggest you undertake any of these until you can sustain at least a one and a half hour swim session.
