Training

Swimming

Training in 3 sports is clearly more difficult than training in just one. Fitting in the training alone can be difficult, with all the other demands on modern life, which is as true for the young as is is for their parents.

There is a tendency in all of us to work to our strengths and concentrate on what we're good at and this will probably mean we train far harder in one of the three sports than the others. However, some form of training has to be done in each sport as, although training hard in one sport will make us fit, it won't get our muscles used to performing well in the other sports.

Cycling

Of all the sports swimming is the most technical as it requires a great deal of skill to move through water quickly. Gaining a "Feel" for the water is important and retaining this feel means that practice has to be regular.

Cycling is again quite technical and the skills of mounting and dismounting, cornering, braking , hill climbing and descending fast all need to be practiced so you become proficient and, perhaps more importantly, safe on the bike.

Running

Running is always considered the simplest of the three disciplines. However, to run fast over fairly long distances we need to be efficient as well as physically strong.

You can get specific descriptions of what's required in each sport and special training sessions pre-planned that you can download and use if you want. Either click a link above or one of the pictures to take advantage of that specific advice.
